5 Tips for Back-to-Work Eye Care: Alleviate Symptoms and Support Eye Health

With many of us now returning to the office more regularly, the longer hours of screen time combined with poor posture at the desk and a dry air-conditioned indoor climate can take a toll on our eye health.

Cue the eye discomfort, blurry vision, aching or tired eyes, eye twitches, headaches, neck strain, and in the worst case, eye infections. So if you are already experiencing some of these symptoms or want to avoid eye health issues, here are some ways to start practising better eye care.

Five tips for back-to-work eye care to help support healthier eyes:

  1. Adjust Your Screen
One of the simplest things you can do to protect your eyes is to adjust your screen. Make sure that the brightness is at a comfortable level, and adjust the distance so that you are not too close to the screen. Next, you can reduce glare by changing the angle of the screen or using an anti-glare screen. Another adjustment you can try is to use a larger font or zoom in to reduce eye strain.
  2. Take Frequent Breaks
If you are staring at your screen or digital devices for long periods of time, you could experience dry eyes and eye strain. Take regular breaks to help alleviate these symptoms. Try the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for a 20-second break. This is a great way to give your strained eyes some relief.
  3. Get the Right Eyewear
The right eyewear can make a big difference in your eye health. If you wear prescription glasses, make sure that your prescription is up to date. Those not wearing glasses can consider getting a good pair of blue-light filter glasses. These are designed to cut out the excessive blue light emitted by screens, which contributes to eye strain, headaches, and even disrupted sleep patterns.
  4. Relieve Dry Eyes
Dry eyes are a common problem for those who spend extended periods of time staring at screens or digital devices. Symptoms include itching, burning, redness, and a feeling of grittiness in the eyes. This is where eye drops like Sato DORAMA NEO Eye Drops by Satopharm can provide some relief. These eye drops are made from natural ingredients and include hyaluronic acid, which helps to moisturize and soothe dry eyes. They also come in a convenient, easy-to-use bottle that fits easily in your pocket or purse—ideal for bringing to work.
  5. Combat Itchy Eyes
Itchy eyes are an often frustrating and uncomfortable eye health issue. First, figure out the cause of the itching: could it be allergies? Or dry air? Sometimes, itchy eyes are a symptom of a more serious health condition. In this case, itchy eyes come from health disorders such as allergic rhinitis, eye infections, and dry eye. Do seek medical advice if this persists. It is also important to keep up good eye hygiene practices such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding rubbing your eyes.

Adopting proper vision care habits and adjusting your work practices can help alleviate several eye health issues. Satopharm provides a range of eye supplements and drops to cater to a variety of needs, whether you’re dealing with dryness, itchiness, or simply looking to maintain optimal eye health, all in support of a smoother work experience.
